The Endicott Observer is saddened to announce the passing of a beloved adjunct professor, Arthur Burt, who died on November 27.
Burt, a Wenham resident, was a former teacher and coach in the Hamilton-Wenham system, a counselor for the Juvenile Diversion Program, and a former professor at Salem State University, as well as a current professor of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at North Shore Community College and Endicott College.
He taught classes such as Speech and American Civics. Known for his stories of adventure, most which involved his wife, Janet, and their travels. He loved history, teaching and the North Shore.
Burt was on the Town Administrator Search committee in 2015, The Open Space and Recreation Committee from 2016-2018, Lakeview Advisory Committee in 2016, was elected in April 2014 to the Wenham Housing Authority for a five year term and reelected in 2019 for an additional five years.
Professor Burt leaves behind his wife, Janet, son Nathan, daughter Jessica and his Gordon Setter, Olivia. He is survived by his sister Ann, his brother John and numerous nieces and nephews.
