The Endicott College men’s lacrosse team hosted Roger Willams in the CCC semifinals on Wednesday, defeating them by a score of 14-8.
The Gulls put pressure on the Hawks early courtesy of two unassisted tallies from Sam DesMarais and Jaden Elsinger.
Roger Williams scored two of the game’s next three goals to cut the Endicott lead to one, but the second quarter was all Blue and Green.
Endicott put up five straight goals in the second quarter-- three of them from the mesh of Domenic Russo. The sophomore scored six total goals on the day on a mere seven shots.
The second half of the contest was even with each side netting four goals, but it wasn’t enough for Roger Williams to catch up.
Russo played the role of the hero, but freshman Nick Pagluiso made headlines as well with five points on the day.
Austin Fournier collected 10 saves for Endicott. In what could’ve been his last game in net, he showed up when his number was called.
Despite being outplayed in regards to faceoffs and the ever-so-important ground ball category, Endicott turned the ball over 10 less times than Roger Williams-- resulting in lots of offensive opportunities.
Overall, the Gulls finished around the net and answered Roger Williams runs throughout the game, continuing their dominating stretch against the college (28-6 all-time).
Domenic Russo will look to lead the Gulls further into the tournament. The Northborough native leads the CCC in goals this season with 42.
Russo looks to increase that number this Saturday against Western New England. Hempstead Stadium will play host to the 1:00 p.m. matchup, where the Gulls look to continue their dominance at home.
